What Is Pain Management?

Pain is typically classified as being either acute or chronic.

Acute pain is sudden and describes the discomfort experienced during an illness or directly after a traumatic incident such as a fall, a surgery or auto accident.

Chronic pain is defined as pain that lasts for six months or more. It may begin as acute pain, such as whiplash pain that begins just a few hours after an auto accident and continues to cause pain and discomfort several months later. Chronic pain isn’t always severe. It may by mild and nagging or serious and debilitating. But whether it’s mild discomfort or terrible agony, chronic pain doesn’t only affect people physically, it also affects them emotionally.

Being in constant pain can lead to depression, anger, lack of interest in everyday activities or loss of energy. People who suffer chronic pain may be unable to work or maintain healthy relationships.

Pain management is the practice of easing suffering with an interdisciplinary approach. One method of pain relief may provide temporary results, but combining several interdisciplinary methods at once can bring the kind of lasting relief you’ve been waiting for.

Stanger Health Care Centers serve several locations including the Boca Raton and West Palm Beach areas because we understand how difficult it is to live with chronic pain. Our approach to pain management is unique. We incorporate the most effective procedures from chiropractic medicine, massage therapy, physical therapy, neurology and orthopedic surgery to treat all types of pain.

In addition to our knowledgeable chiropractic doctors, the Stanger family includes an Orthopedic Surgeon and Physiatrist.

By offering a wide scope of medical perspectives, we can provide a comprehensive treatment plan for every client, even if conventional methods have failed to bring relief.
